University of Warwick – Sport & Wellness Hub

The £50m Sport & Wellness Hub at the University of Warwick is one of the best sports facilities at a British university. Reinforcing the University’s ambition to be the “most physically active campus community in the UK ” it includes the largest gym facility in the country’s higher education sector.

Open to all students, staff and the general public, this new sports centre replaced the old facility on the campus and, in addition to the fitness, features a 12-court sports hall, a 12-lane swimming pool with two booms, climbing and bouldering walls and large, flexible studio spaces, as well as squash courts, outdoor 3G sports pitches and netball courts.

KKP was involved in the project from inception. We led the process which informed the University’s decision to invest and the scale thereof and then headed up the process of concept development, master planning, capital cost analysis and revenue business planning as well as leading on the consultation with senior staff members at the institution.

(Over the last 5-10 years, KKP has undertaken a range of strategic planning, business development and service review assignments at HEIs as diverse as Salford, Leeds, Royal Holloway, University College Cork, Aston, Edge Hill, Robert Gordon and the University of Ulster as well a review of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS). More recently this list has extended to include further work for Leeds, Bristol, UCLan and most recently the University of Oxford.
