An excellent example of international venue planning geared to provision for elite and talented performers in a range of sports and in relation to a planned future joint Malaysia/Singapore Asian Games bid. It encompassed incorporation of specialist support services catering for a range of different sporting needs and requirements focusing on the international marketplace.
Intended to cater for elite and talented performers across a range of sports in particular badminton (Malaysia’s main sport), cricket, table tennis, football and squash it incorporated a market evaluation-based consultation with domestic NGBs, Government officials, international sports federations including the ICC, World Badminton Federation and FIFA alongside local appraisal. This ensured that high performance sport would sit comfortably alongside effective revenue generation catering effectively for the growing local community in Johor.
