This was an integral element of a suite of concurrent assignments KKP delivered for the City Council which also included a sports facilities strategy and a comprehensive review of the structure, roles, competencies and business effectiveness of its leisure services establishment.
The strategy process was, from the outset, supported by an effective multi-partner steering group via which a regular ‘check and challenge’ process was established. In developing the strategy framework and then the document itself, KKP led consultation, workshops and challenge sessions with Council executive team members, key politicians, public health partners, community/sports groups, NGBs, Sport England, service staff and trades unions. We conducted, recorded and incorporated feedback from consultation across the spectrum producing an initial key issues paper followed by a collaborative refinement process ensuring that the final strategy carried the requisite weight and significance for all parties.
