Sport Ireland – National Strategy 2023-2027

Client: Sport Ireland

Project: Sport Ireland (National) Strategy 2023-2027

In delivering the Sport Ireland Statement of Strategy 2023-2027, KKP worked with key players throughout Ireland’s sports sector. The resulting ambitious, goal-oriented strategy which is aligned with the Government’s National Sports Policy, reflects the collective commitment to foster high levels of participation, engagement, achievement, and performance in all aspects of sport throughout the country.

The strategy development process incorporated delivery of in-situ individual and/or focus group consultation with more than 150 representatives of 80 NGBs, the Olympic Federation of Ireland, Paralympics Ireland, the Sport Ireland Institute and the Federation of Irish Sport plus Sport Ireland’s CEO, Executive and Board.  This was reinforced by successful online surveys of the sector and the wider public to test and validate strategy content.

The Strategy makes a series of strong statements and strategic commitments in respect of all levels of sport in Ireland, the future shape and leadership of Sport Ireland itself and with regard to the need to further improve other bodies that are key to the future development of sport in the country. Even more satisfying is the clear evidence that commitments made in the Strategy action plan are already starting to be addressed.

It was launched by the Minister for Sport and Physical Education and John Foley, chairperson of Sport Ireland, highlighted its significance stating that it , “is an opportunity to reflect upon and review Sport Ireland’s vision, mission, and values…it acknowledges the importance of our connection with the Irish Government and our strong relationships with partners, in particular NGBs, LSPs, other funded bodies, and the wider sport sector’

Dr. Una May, Sport Ireland CEO noted that ‘the strategy was developed following a wide ranging consultation with key stakeholders and the general public. We have been encouraged by the number of contributions received and impressed by the quality of inputs throughout the consultation process’.
