Project: Review of Team Ireland performance: London 2012 Olympic Games

This covered  120 athletes/competitors across 15 sports assessing factors associated with attendance at the Games, NGB high-performance plan systems/processes over the four-year build up to it and concurrent scrutiny of their governance in this context. Based on comprehensive performance evaluation and analysis relative to high performance plan predictions and interpersonal consultation with all athletes who attended the Games, the OFI, national governing body of sport board members, CEOs, performance directors, coaches, SS/SM support staff, the OCI, Sport NI, the Sport Ireland Institute and the Sport Northern Ireland Institute, the comprehensive and detailed report incorporated evaluation of:

  • The performances/results of all Irish athletes who competed at the Games.
  • Each NGB’s strategy, annual performance plans and Games preparation programme.
  • The engagement and interaction of each sport with Sport Ireland, Sport NI and the OFI.
  • Recommendations for the following two Olympic cycles.
