Having supported Wyre with its Covid recovery plan and to deliver a strategic outcomes planning guidance process in 202-2021, between 2021-2023 KKP delivered the Authority’s sport and physical activity strategy, PPS, sports facilities strategy, open spaces strategy and leisure facilities masterplan.
The open spaces assessment incorporated comprehensive site evaluations and review of the full range of parks, countryside, coastal and walking/cycling routes across the Authority and the overlaps/linkages with other council areas. This dovetailed effectively with the PPS in which we evaluated provision, supply and demand for all the main pitch sports.
The sports facilities strategy had a particular focus on the age, condition, location and customer base of the Authority’s swimming pools, sports halls and fitness/studios and provided a justified core focus for the subsequent leisure facilities masterplan – which considered the facilities base Wyre needs going forward and the improvements and developments that will be needed to retained stock.
Across the board, supply and demand evaluation was supported by in-depth consultation with key strategic agencies, Council officers and elected members, local partners, stakeholders and community groups.
